GB Railfreight wins Porterbrook deal

GB Railfreight (GBRf) has signed a framework contract with rolling stock provider Porterbrook for the supply of train crew and haulage to take the company’s new, works and life-expired trains to locations around the country.

The deal means that Porterbrook will call on GBRf to bid competitively for business against other rail freight hauliers.

Ashley Stower, GBRf’s Head of Business Development and Marketing, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer Porterbrook an alternative to its existing supplier base. We have been providing Porterbrook with ad-hoc services and this agreement builds on our track record of providing a quality, customer-focused service that is reliable and cost effective. I am sure that when Porterbrook calls on us we shall respond in our traditional way.”

GBRf has a growing rail sales business, supplying train crew for new, refurbished or scrap stock moves or for engineering work such as tamping, rail grinding or leaf clearance work.

Alex White, Operations Director for Porterbrook Leasing said: “Porterbrook welcomes the agreement which would allow a quick response to arising movement needs, and will build on the success from the support previously undertaken for us by GBRf.”
