Northern Rail passengers on the Crewe – Manchester returned to a full timetable from Monday 26 March.
The reintroduction of the full timetable sees off-peak services increase to two per
hour departing Crewe at XX.00 and XX.38 and three per hour departing Manchester
Piccadilly at XX.03, XX.33 and XX.51 (terminates at Alderley Edge). A new off peak
hourly service will depart Alderley Edge for Manchester at XX.53.
Additional services will operate during peak hours including the introduction of a new
morning service from Crewe to Manchester Airport (departing Crewe at 07.43).
Services departing Crewe at XX.00 and Manchester Piccadilly at XX.33 also serve
the airport.
For detailed timetable information, customers are advised to visit
www.northernrail.org or contact National Rail Enquiry Service on 08457 484950 or
Northern's customer helpline on 0845 0000125. Timetables are also available from
staffed stations along the route.
The Crewe – Manchester line reopened in June 2006 following an 18-month closure
to upgrade the signalling and renew track and lineside equipment. A reduced
timetable was put in place to allow the new signalling system to be brought up to full
capacity.
