More Class 66s arrive in the UK

The delivery of Freightliner Class 66s from EMDD to the UK has continued, with six more locos offloaded at ABP Newport over the last two days.

The locos concerned are No. 66582, 66583, 66584, 66585, 66586 and 66625, all arrived onboard MV Fairlift and were offloaded thus
26 March
66582 - 16.07hrs
66583 - 13.40hrs
66584 - 14.39hrs
66585 - 15.23hrs
66625 - 12.03hrs
27 March
66586 - 08.22hrs

In addition to the UK Class 66s the ship transported two Euro 66s Nos. EU06 and EU07, both are painted in grey livery and will be hied to Mainland European operaters via NedTrains at Tilburg. These two locos form part of order 20058725 and are shown on the works plates as built 09/06.

Some confusion over who is to operate what of Euro 66 order 20058725 seems to abound in enthusiast circles. The correct position is thus -
EU01 (20058725-001) is still in Canada at ITS Rail, Welland, where it is a demonstration loco and being fitted with various equipment. We have been told it will not be delivered in the immediate future.
EU02-EU05 (20058725-002 - 20058725-005) are owned by Angel Trains and operated by Freightliner Poland (painted in FPL livery) - all delivered to NedTrains, Tilburg for commissioning
EU06-EU11 (20058725-006 - 20058725-011) painted in grey livery and will be hired to Mainland European Operators from Tilburg
EU12-EU14 (20058725-012 - 20058725-014) are owned by Angel Trains and operated by Freightliner Poland (painted in FPL livery)
- all in EMDD London, Canada
