Siemens Transportation Systems wins £46 million NR signalling contract

Siemens Transportation Systems (STS) has been awarded a multi million pound signalling & telecommunications framework contract by Network Rail.

Part of a £2bn investment by Network Rail, the STS contract valued at £48 million, will deliver new signalling systems to the South Thames network. The STS solution managed by its teams at Solihull and York, will deliver increased benefits to passengers and freight users by reducing delays and increasing reliability.

The new signalling system will be installed over the next three years and forms part of a wider investment plan by Network Rail to improve the railways, including bridge and track side repairs.

Christian Roth, managing director of STS said, “This is great news for our business. The expertise of our signalling & telecommunication teams will enable STS to deliver efficient and proven technology for the duration of this project. We are delighted to be contributing to a programme of works that will undoubtedly create a more robust and reliable rail network across the country.”
