Passengers at Milngavie Station now have the 'moccha-tunity' to enjoy
a fresh coffee on the platform, with the official opening of a great
new kiosk which took place on Monday 27 November.
The coffee kiosk has come about thanks to a successful partnership
between First ScotRail and JJ's Coffee Company, which is run by Jim
Jenkins, a local Milngavie resident. It was officially opened by Mary
Dickson, managing director of First ScotRail and Pat Steel, Provost
of East Dunbartonshire.
Jim brought the idea of the kiosk, which sells coffees, teas and a
range of snacks, to the train operating company, who recognised it
as a good opportunity to enhance the facilities and service available
for customers.
Following a successful trial, JJ's Coffee Company kiosk is open six
days a week and already proving a hit with customers and First ScotRail
staff alike. What's more, JJ's has a policy of employing local staff,
sourcing local products wherever possible and will be putting a percentage
of its profits back into the local community projects, making it an
all round welcome venture.
Mary Dickson, managing director of First ScotRail, said; "This
is a great addition to the station and we were delighted to support
the kiosk and assist in seeing it through to a successful opening.
We're looking forward to working closely with Jim to further develop
the partnership and pleased that customers are benefiting from initiatives
such as this."
Pat Steel, Provost of East Dunbartonshire, said; "This is a welcome
enhancement to the station especially given the time of year and one
which I am sure will be well used by customers."
Jim Jenkins added; "We have made a really promising start and
it is good to see First ScotRail customers and staff enjoying the
service we are providing. Working closely with the First ScotRail
team has given us a good base on which to develop our relationship."
