National Rail Enquiries innovative voice-activated train time information
service TrainTracker is now easier and better for Britains
rail passengers to use - thanks to improvements and innovations announced
today.
Users of TrainTracker (0871 200 4950) can now plan a rail
journey up to 90 days in advance between any two UK mainland stations,
irrespective of the number of changes required. The service
now gives the most convenient journeys, selected for speed and the
fewest changes.
Where journeys are affected by incidents on the day, TrainTracker
has been enhanced to offer much more information to callers and in
some cases, where a connection can no longer be made, can even give
alternative journey plans which may have become more suitable for
the caller.
The service also now offers improved personalisation. For instance,
if a customer requests departure times from London to Brighton on
a certain day, the system will remember their request and offer them
either a repeat of the journey or the return journey from Brighton
to London if they call back on that day. This degree of adaptive
personalisation, currently available for mobile callers, makes the
new journey planning capability in TrainTracker stand out from
other speech automated information systems.
The service caters for mobile callers in noisy environments such as
station platforms, using a comprehensive touchtone fall back option.
Callers can easily change between speech and touchtone using the #
button on their phone.
TrainTracker is one of Europes most sophisticated and
widely used automated speech enabled services, already provides real
time information for direct rail journeys for more than 350,000 callers
every month and is powered by BT and Eckoh Technologies Journey
Finder product, winner of Call Centre Expo Product of the Year
at the European Call Centre Awards 2005.
Chris Scoggins, Chief Executive of National Rail Enquiries, said:
National Rail Enquiries is popular and highly-regarded by passengers,
but we continually strive to become even better, through innovations
like TrainTracker, which meet the needs of our passengers busy
people on the move.
