43165 Named 'Prince Michael of Kent'
|
| The 17th October saw First Great Western name one of the latest MTU powercars 'Prince Michael of Kent'. Powercar 43165 has recently been released from Brush Loughborough where it's been fitted with the latest MTU power unit. During it's time at the works it's been completely refurbished inside and out.
The naming took place at Bristol Temple Meads, the naming was chosen in recognition of the Princes life long fascination with the railways and his extensive knowledge of them. Following the naming ceremony the Prince was treated to a guided tour of the St Phillips Marsh maintenance facility, and some time on the full sized driver training simulator based at the depot. Later in the day a cab ride was provided to return the Prince to London, where many of the modern safety systems could be demonstrated in the cab while on route to London Paddington.
