Lift refurbishment begins at Milton Keynes Central on Monday 4 September 2006

Refurbishment and upgrading of the passenger lifts at Milton Keynes Central station from Monday 4 September until Saturday 31 March 2007 will unavoidably impact on the travel arrangements of Virgin Trains passengers with special needs from as far afield as Glasgow, Holyhead, Liverpool, Manchester and the West Midlands.

The first phase of the work will affect Platform Five until Friday 8 December and during this time passengers from London Euston unable to use stairs will need to use Silverlink services to Platform Three.

Virgin Trains customers travelling from Milton Keynes Central to Liverpool and Glasgow may travel on one of the five daily Silverlink services to Rugby or will be provided with complimentary taxis to Rugby for onward trains which may require changes at Crewe.

Those travelling to Birmingham and Manchester may take one of the five daily Silverlink services to Coventry to change trains for their destinations or, alternatively, use complimentary taxis.

The lifts on Platforms One and Two will be refurbished from Monday 30 October until Friday 9 February 2007 and those on Platforms Three and Four from Tuesday 2 January until Saturday 31 March 2007. Advice on alternative travel arrangements will be given in advance of the starting of each phase of work.

During the refurbishment work, extra Virgin Trains and Silverlink staff will be on hand to help and the Costa Coffee and Subway catering outlets will make their facilities fully available.
