New EWS structure

Further to the official announcement made in the summer, more details have now come to light, mainly from private information provided by senior EWS staff, rather than official EWS announcements.

The new business sub divisions will come into operation at one monthly intervals with the first being EWS Energy this is set to begin trading on 1 October. the other three sectors EWS Industrial, EWS Construction and EWS Network will commence operation on 1 November 2006, 1 December 2006 and 1 January 2007.

We are informed that staff and sites will 'belong' to the new business units, but the traction fleet will be a common user. Wagons will obviously used by the sector which operates the type of traffic. An early split of the business units by main regional/area depot sees the following:
EWS Construction: Temple Mills (London)
EWS Energy: Ayr, Knottingley, Warrington
EWS Industrial: Immingham, Margam, Thornaby
EWS Network: Bescot, Dollands Moor, Doncaster, Hoo Junction, Motherwell, St Blazey

More information will be made available to readers as the weeks progress.
