New home for Exminster Signalbox

The Grade 2 listed signalbox at Exminster, on the Great Western main line between Exeter St Davids and Starcross, which was closed on 15 November 1986 as part of the West of England re-signalling and since been used as a bird hide for the nearby Exminster Marshes is now being demolished.

The structure is being transported by road to the Gloucestershire-Warwickshire Railway where it will be re-erected at Broadway.

The structure at Exminster with its 80 lever frame was opened on 9 June 1924, to replace a previous adjacent box. Although used as a bird hide, in recent years the structure has been in poor repair.
