Siemens Transportation Systems has opened its first office north of the border in Glasgow’s Buchanan Street. Eddie Inglis has taken on the role of business development manager – Scotland.
Formerly Siemens’ fleet manager responsible for the successful implementation of the TransPennine Class 185 fleet in 2006, Eddie will be leading all aspects of rail business development for Siemens Transportation Systems throughout Scotland including rolling stock sales and service, as well as infrastructure opportunities.
A railway professional with over 30 years’ experience in senior management and engineering roles in both the UK and overseas, Eddie has developed comprehensive knowledge of fleet management and operations covering train running, signalling and overhead lines, as well as solid contacts throughout the UK industry.
Eddie said of his appointment: “Developments in Scotland are vitally important for the UK rail industry and in this role I will be concentrating on providing customers north of the border – Transport Scotland, Scotrail and Network Rail – with an integrated approach to the Siemens offering, whether this is in rolling stock or infrastructure solutions. Key to success in Scotland is ensuring that customers receive a seamless and customer-focused service from Siemens and that is what I’ll be aiming to achieve.”
Christian Roth, managing director for Siemens Transportation Systems, said: “Eddie Inglis is a highly experienced senior railway manager with the drive and determination needed to develop our presence in Scotland. We’re very pleased that Eddie has taken up the challenge of taking Siemens Transportation Systems to the next level in Scotland and we wish him every success in his new role.”
Originally hailing from Edinburgh in Scotland, Eddie’s career has included engineering roles within the automotive and energy sectors, as well as four years travelling the world as an engineering officer with the Pacific Steam Navigation Company.
